Field Restoration in Eskers Provincial Park: Eskers Provincial Park is located 30 minutes NW of Prince George in a glacially sculpted landscape representing 1/3 of the Stuart River Eskers Complex with long sinuous eskers and numerous small kettle lakes. Over the last two decades the park has been heavily impacted by pine beetle. As a result of pine beetle impacts within the park and extensive salvage logging outside the park, the park represents an ecological system in a state of significant change. BC Parks recently acquired an inholding field area just north of Erickson Lake that was cleared and then hayed for a number of years. We present the results of restoration efforts to date on wildlife habitat enhancement, stream hydrology and forest restoration.
